This solar walkway light scored highest for brightness of light, duration of light, and durability in tests conducted by the Hammacher Schlemmer Institute. Solar energy collected by the large 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" solar panel--the largest of all the models tested--is converted to electrical energy and stored in the light's Ni-Cad batteries. Housed in a durable 100% stainless steel rust-free frame with a clear, high-impact polycarbonate lens, two high-output LEDs generate 6.8 watts of light, unlike the 1.2 watts generated by other solar lights, and produce a soft, ambient glow for up to 13 hours, three hours longer than the nearest tested light, when fully charged.
